CITY MANAGER’S REPORT

Week ending January 20, 2004

Codes Review Update

The Codes Review Committee voted at their January 14th meeting to recommend to the City Commission the adoption of the International Code Council (ICC) set of building codes.  The next step in the progress of this committee is to hold a second public meeting, on 1/29, to receive public comments. The committee then wraps things up with a final meeting on 2/11 to review the final report that will be passed along to the City Commission for their approval. After CC approval, the various sections of code (IPC - International Plumbing Code; IFC - International Fire Code; IBC - International Building Code, etc.) will be sent to the City’s various trade Boards for their review.  Amendments may be suggested by these Boards, similar to past practice. A draft of the Final Report which is currently a work in progress will be posted on the NR website later this month, prior to the 1/29 public meeting.

Supervisor Training

Supervisors from various departments in the City will be attending a training seminar on Tuesday, January 20th covering the following topics: “Family and Medical Leave Act” and “Making and Documenting Good Business Decisions Without Inviting Lawsuits”.  This seminar is part of the Administrative Services 2004 Staff Development Program.
