Last August the City of Lawrence began working on a joint bid and cooperative purchasing agreement through Mid-America Council of Public Purchasing (MACPP) for 2004 vehicles.  There were twelve other government entities besides Lawrence working on the bid including Douglas County and entities in the Kansas City area belonging to MACPP.  This year the City of Overland Park headed the bidding process and the bids were approved by the Overland Park City Council on October 20, 2003.  Ten vendors bid on fifty different vehicles. 

Public Works is requesting to buy one (1) half ton 4X4 pickup and one (1) one ton 4X4 truck off of this bid.  The purchase of the half ton pickup was deferred from 2003 and approved during the 2004 budget process and is to replace unit 444 with high mileage and maintenance costs.  The purchase of the one ton truck was also approved during the 2004 budget process and is to replace unit 452 with high mileage and maintenance costs. 

Utilities is requesting to purchase one (1) dump truck off the MACPP bid.  It is to replace Unit 206, a 1982 dump truck that is beyond repair and has been taken out of service.

Recommendations:

Approve purchase from Roberts Auto Plaza for one (1) half ton 4X4 pickup off the MACPP cooperative bid in the amount of $16,059.00.  (Public Works/Solid Waste).

Approve purchase from Olathe Ford for one (1) one ton 4X4 truck off the MACPP cooperative bid in the amount of $19,983.00.  (Public Works/Solid Waste).

Approve purchase from KCR International for one (1) dump truck off the MACPP cooperative bid in the amount of $58,996.00.  (Utilities/Collections).
