Last August the City of Lawrence began working on a joint bid and cooperative purchasing agreement through Mid-America Council of Public Purchasing (MACPP) for 2004 vehicles.  There were twelve other government entities besides Lawrence working on the bid including Douglas County and entities in the Kansas City area belonging to MACPP.  This year the City of Overland Park headed the bidding process and the bids were approved by the Overland Park City Council on October 20, 2003.  Ten vendors bid on fifty different vehicles. 

Public Works is requesting to buy one (1) 4 X 4 extended cab compact pickup with the power equipment group off of this bid.  It will be replacing unit 750 which is being transferred because of age and use and replaced with a unit that will better serve the needs of the department.  This pickup will be used by the Senior Project Inspector and was approved during the budget process.

Utilities is requesting to buy one (1) 4 X 4 extended cab compact pickup off of this bid.  It will be replacing unit 205 which is 11 years old and is being transferred because of age and use and replaced with a unit that will better serve the needs of the department.   This pickup will be used by the Quality Control Division and was approved during the budget process.

Finance is requesting to buy one (1) ½ ton 4 X 4 pickup off of this bid.  It will be replacing unit 220 with high mileage and maintenance costs.  This pickup will be used by Utility Billing Field Representatives. 

Recommendations:

Approve purchase from Olathe Ford for two (2) 4 X 4 extended cab pickups off the MACPP cooperative bid in the amount of $32,241.00.00.  ($16,323.00 from Stormwater Utility Fund and $15,918.00 from Utilities/Quality Control).

Approve one (1) ½ ton 4 X 4 pickup off the MACPP cooperative bid in the amount of $15,432.00 (Finance/Utility Billing)
