MEMORANDUM
DATE: March 10, 2004

City Manager
From: Alan D. Landis
Purchasing Specialist
Last August the City of Lawrence began working on a joint bid and cooperative purchasing agreement through Mid-America Council of Public Purchasing (MACPP) for 2004 vehicles. There were twelve other government entities besides Lawrence working on the bid including Douglas County and entities in the Kansas City area belonging to MACPP. This year the City of Overland Park headed the bidding process and the bids were approved by the Overland Park City Council on October 20, 2003. Ten vendors bid on fifty different vehicles.
Parks and Recreation is requesting to purchase a single axle dump truck off the MACPP bid. They are presently using a flatbed truck that is no longer dependable due to the age and hard use. The department is hauling more bulk material such as woodchips, sand, dirt, etc. than ever before, and a dump truck will better handle these tasks. The purchase of this vehicle was approved in the budgeting process.
Recommendations:
Approve purchase from KCR International Trucks for one (1) single axle dump truck off the MACPP cooperative bid in the amount of $58,996.00 ($30,000 from Equipment Reserve/$28,996 from Special Recreation Fund)
