Public Works went out for bid for two (2) rear load refuse trucks with options for an MBE 4000 engine and an extended warranty. They are to replace units 429 and 430 with high mileage and high maintenance costs. The American Equipment bids #1 & #2 do not meet specifications on the turning radius, vertical opening hopper, tailgate overhang, and the hydraulic tank. The Roy Conley bid #2 bid a Loadmaster packer. Based on past maintenance history, the Central Maintenance Garage recommends against Loadmaster packers when the cost difference is less than $10,000 per unit. The Roy Conley bid #1 meets all specifications.
Recommendation Action:
Approve bid from Roy Conley for two (2) rear load refuse trucks with the MBE 4000 engines and extended warranties in the amount of $197,102.00 and the extended warranties for $1,928.00 totaling $199,030.00 (Public Works/Sanitation)
