Re: Agenda Item
Date: March 24, 2004
Please include the following item on the City Commission agenda for consideration at their March 30, 2004 meeting:
Project History.
Part of the Utilities Department’s efforts at Inflow/Infiltration (I/I) reduction is to repair/reconstruct existing manholes that are a source of I/I. Last year we requested proposals from several companies to provide all labor, materials and equipment to reconstruct/rehab manholes in several areas throughout the City. The proposals included a cost index for 2nd and 3rd year contract renewals.
Project Status.
Dobson-Davis Company was the lowest bidder that met specifications with a bid of $71.88 per vertical foot. The 2nd year cost index (8%) will bring this year’s cost to $78.13 per vertical foot. This price remains lower than other eligible bids received last year. Total cost of the project is $215,795.06 dollars (2,762’@$78.13/per vertical foot).
Action Request. The Utilities Department is seeking approval from the City Commission to authorize the City Manager to enter into a contract agreement with Dobson-Davis Company in the amount of $215,795.06 dollars for the 2004 Manhole Rehabilitation Project (Project #II04-1). The project will be funded from the Department’s non-bonded construction fund.
Thank you for your assistance. Please advise if you have any questions.
