On March 16, 2004 the Douglas County Economic Development Board met and recommended that the City of Lawrence and County of Douglas amend the current ordinance/joint resolution governing the Economic Development Board.  The recommended changes include the following:

1. Re-configure the Douglas County Economic Development Board to make it more representative of the stakeholders and other economic development organizations.  The following is a list of proposed Board members:

· Chairman, Douglas County Commission

· Chairman, ECO2

· Chancellor of KU

· Mayor of Lawrence

· President & CEO of Lawrence Chamber of Commerce

· President of Baker University

· President of Haskell Indian Nations University

· President, Douglas County Development Incl

· School Superintendent, USD 497

· Vice Chair of ED, Chamber Board of Directors

2. The Vice Chair of ED, Chamber Board of Directors shall serve as the Chairman of the new Economic Development Board.
