Public Works requested bids for a self contained vacuum jetter truck for cleaning catch basins and sewer lines. Unit 331, presently in operation, is 10 years old and has high maintenance costs. The low bid from Key Equipment did not meet specifications by offering a single stage 2 blade aluminum fan instead of a 3 stage steel fan for vacuum. The unit offered by Sellers meets specifications exactly and is for immediate delivery. This would eliminate the need to maintain the trade-in unit for an extra 45 to 90 days. Sellers unit is an improved version of our trade-in unit which would mean little extra training for our staff. The unit offered by Sellers is a re-bid of bid #0402 in which all bids were rejected and is now offered at $25,000 less.
Recommendation Action:
Approve bid from Sellers Equipment Co. for one (1) jetter/rodder/vacuum truck in the amount of $171,151.00 (Stormwater Utility Fund)
