Re: T Sticker Program with KU on Wheels
The Public Transit Advisory Committee (PTAC) is recommending continuation of the T Sticker program that allows KU students to ride the “T” by showing their KU on Wheels identification card. As last year, the student would be required to purchase a T sticker for a nominal fee. PTAC is recommending that we raise the annual fee to $25.00 up from $20.00 and raise the semester fee to $15.00 up from $10.00. From August 2003 – March 2004, we have sold 318 T stickers to students. For the same time period, we had 15,919 rides attributed to the KU on Wheels T stickers.
This year, the T sticker program would not incur any setup fees. We would have an obligation to pay monthly fees for the services provided by the KU Memorial Unions. Last year, our costs were $50.00 monthly plus 10% of collected funds based on sticker price.
In order to proceed with this effort, I need City Commission approval to continue the program and approval to negotiate fees with KU Memorial Unions. The Lawrence Transit System needs to finalize the agreement with the union by July 1, 2004.
Thank you for your consideration of this proposal to increase ridership on the Lawrence Transit System and continue our cooperative efforts with KU on Wheels.
