Proclamation

Lawrence, Kansas

WHEREAS:   The Community Health Improvement Project (CHIP) is a group comprised of local partners working to create “positive change in health outcomes”; and

WHEREAS:   An estimated ten percent of Douglas County residents are without health coverage; and

WHEREAS:   The Access to Health Care Task Force under CHIP is comprised of representatives of numerous health entities of Douglas County that serve the uninsured population; and

WHEREAS:   Said Task Force works collaboratively among its members to connect resources to those in need to lessen the number of individuals going without health care; and

WHEREAS:   Countless national and state organizations recognize “National Cover the Uninsured Week”;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mike Rundle, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim May 10 – 16 to be

“COVER THE UNINSURED WEEK”

in observation of the work fulfilled by our local agencies serving the uninsured.
