At the Lawrence/Douglas County Economic Development Board meeting held on May 3rd, a funding request for ECO2 that would provide staffing and marketing materials was recommended unanimously by the Board.

The funds are important to assist this volunteer county appointed board to develop open space and industrial development plans for the future through the funding of two interns from the Urban Planning School at KU.  Additionally, the funds will assist in offsetting costs to develop marketing materials to utilize for public awareness of the finished plans. The Chamber of Commerce will be providing administrative support for the Industrial Park Identification subcommittee as an in-kind contribution.

RoxAnne Miller, Chair, ECO2 would like to make a short presentation to the City Commission on Tuesday, May 11^th, similar to the presentation made to the County Commission in April.  The presentation will provide information regarding the work plan of ECO2 for 200/2005 and answer questions regarding the funding request mentioned above.   Please let RoxAnne Miller know if it is possible to schedule the presentation at the May 11^th City Commission meeting at 749-3297.  Additionally, please let Roxanne know when the County Commission might consider the funding request.
