                      Authority to Award Contract/Commitment of City Fund

Attached is a KDOT Form 1309, Authority to Award Contract/Commitment of City Funds for the O’Connell Road project.  Bids were received April 21, 2004.  The successful (low) bidder was King Construction Company in the amount of $2,039,739.74.  Therefore, the City will need to provide $471,239.41 to the Chief of Fiscal Services of the Department of Transportation. 

Resolution 6531 authorizes the issuance of General Obligation Bonds in an amount of $1,100,000.  To date we have spent:

                                    Engineering                             $260,000.00

                                    Right of Way                            175,000.00

                                    Construction/Inspection            471,239.41

                                                                                    $906,239.41

Action Requested:  Approve KDOT’s Authority to Award Project 23 U-1894-01/STP-U 189(401) to

King Construction, and the Commitment of City Funds and payment to KDOT in the amount of $471,239.41.
