Pavement Management System Update
Last November 2003, a brief report was presented to the City Commission discussing the various methodologies that staff had researched for the implementation of a pavement management system. Since that time, a draft manual establishing guidelines defining various pavement distresses and values has been developed.
The first pavement condition surveys were performed in February. To date, approximately 42.5 miles of streets have been surveyed. This is equivalent to 14.0% of the total centerline miles of streets. We anticipate that quite a bit of progress will be made within the summer months. The goal is to use this collected information as a guide in the 2005 street maintenance program. Monthly updates are provided to the City Engineer highlighting the following:
· Number of miles of pavement rated that month
· Total miles of pavement rated
· Area planned for survey next month
· Identification of any issues that may need attention or further discussion
