Lawrence Public Library Update

Bruce Flanders, Library Director, will present an overview of the activities of the Lawrence Public Library and accomplishments during 2003.

 

Flowers Added to Downtown Beds

Maria Martin and Mark Hecker (both pictured) joined Parks and Recreation landscaping staff Jen Smith and John McDonald on Friday, May 21 for the last of three days of flower planting in the beds of Downtown Lawrence.

 

 

Lawrence Transit System  

Lawrence Transit System was asked to submit information on its ridership for consideration of the Federal Transit Administration's new web page "Best Practices to Increase Ridership".  Federal Transit Administration's goal is to develop a web page that brings together the most innovative practices that have been undertaken by transit operators across the nation.  The FTA web page is scheduled to be operational by August 31, 2004.  LTS was chosen because of the significant ridership gains in 2002 and 2003. Peer Recognition

Karin Rexroad, Public Transit Administrator, was elected to a one year term as Vice-President of the Quad County Coordinated Transit District #1.  Coordinated Transit Districts are mandated by legislature as a means to promote synchronization of transportation services by Kansas providers.  Coordinated Transit District #1 is made up of transportation providers from Douglas, Leavenworth, Johnson, and Wyandotte counties.  Douglas County was merged into CTD#1 in July of 2003.
