2004 Kaw Water Plant Boiler and HVAC Specialties:
The Utilities Department has received bids for the demolition and replacement of the hot water boiler at the Kaw River Water Treatment Plant. The existing boiler is over twenty years old and the exterior structure is deteriorating rapidly.
The 2004 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) for the Utilities Department includes funds to replace the old boiler at Kaw Plant. We anticipate completion of the project by September 2004. Following are the bids that were received on May 25, 2004:

ACTION
Utility Department staff requests approval from the City Commission to authorize the City Manager to enter into a contract for a new Kaw Plant boiler and HVAC specialties in the amount of $36,000 with SRH Mechanical Contractors, Inc. as recommended by Department staff. The Utilities Department will provide in-house project inspection. The project will be funded from the non-bonded construction fund.
