Re: Agenda Item – Engineering Services
Date: June 7,2004
Please include the following item on the City Commission agenda for consideration at the June 15, 2004 meeting:
Engineering Services for: Project # CS04-04 (6th and Indiana Sanitary Sewer Improvements)
Project History: The 2003 Wastewater Master Plan identified an existing sanitary sewer in the area of 6th and Indiana as a sewer that needs immediate improvements in order to meet regulatory and system capacity standards. The segment of sanitary sewer slated for improvement begins at a manhole south of 6th Street, between Mississippi and Indiana and terminates in a relief line located on 5th Street, between Mississippi and Indiana.
Project Status: The Utilities Department sent out Request for Proposals (RFP’s) and evaluated the six (6) proposals that were submitted. The proposal from BG Consultants, Inc. (BG) was deemed by the review team to be the best proposal based on overall professional experience of the firm, proposed project approach and understanding, cost projections, schedule, availability, and qualifications of the Project Manager, staff and sub-consultants. BG proposes to survey the area (including a Geotechnical Study), perform a capacity analysis, provide alternatives, and deliver final plans for the amount of $23,724. Bid and construction phase services will be part of a separate contract.
Action Request: The Utilities Department is seeking approval from the City Commission to execute a contract with BG Consultants, Inc. in the not-to-exceed amount of $23,724. for study and design phase services for Project CS04-04. Funding for this project will come from the Utility Department Capitol Improvement Fund (501-7800-588-6030).
Thank you for your assistance. Please advise if you have any questions.
