The following is the verbiage that will be included on the Hobbs Park
Mural. All of these were suggested through our community outreach.
The John Speer quote for the newspaper image in the Civil War era (2nd) panel of the mural:
"Now we do assert and declare, despite all the bolts and bars of an
iniquitous Kansas legislature, that persons have not the right to hold
slaves in this Territory'"
The Langston Hughes poem for the top of the middle panel:
Youth
We have tomorrow
Bright before us
Like a flame.
Yesterday
A night-gone thing,
A sun-down name.
And dawn today
Broad arch above the road we came.
We march!
The three signs in the forth panel are:
Thank you,
