Proclamation

Lawrence, Kansas

 

WHEREAS:   National Assisted Living Week was created in 1995 by the National Center for Assisted Living and is being celebrated for the first time in conjunction with the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging and the Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA); and

 

WHEREAS:   The Lawrence community benefits from assisted living facilities, including the Windsor of Lawrence, and receives supervision, assistance with personal care, and health care services as needed; and

 

WHEREAS:   The theme of National Assisted Living Week is Caring For Our Heritage and highlights the crucial role assisted living residences play in helping our nation’s elderly to live as independently as possible while enjoying a meaningful quality of life;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mike Rundle, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim September 12 – 18, 2004 to be

 

“NATIONAL ASSISTED LIVING WEEK”

 

in Lawrence and urge all citizens of this community to honor and celebrate this special occasion.
