Dear Mayor Rundle:

The Lawrence Home Builders Association requests exemption from Section 5-705.1 of the Sign Ordinance during our annual Fall Showcase of Homes.

The Fall Showcase of Homes takes place two weekends, September 25^th & 26^th and October 2^nd & 3^rd.  Typically, the builder sets out directional arrows the Saturday morning of the first weekend and then the LHBA removes the signs the Monday following the second weekend.  According to the Sign Ordinance, we are noncompliant by leaving the directional arrows in place Monday through Friday between the first and second weekends.

There are 23 homes in Lawrence entered in the Showcase of Homes.  I have enclosed a list of the home entry addresses.  The purpose of our tour is to highlight the latest in home building features and trends and to give the community a composite of the types of newly built homes available in Lawrence, Baldwin, and Eudora.
