CITY MANAGER’S REPORT
Implementation Timeline for Preferred Containers for Yard Waste
On August 10, 2004 the City Commissioners approved Ordinance No. 7797 establishing acceptable containers for yard waste to refuse cans, roll-out cars, and compostable fiber bags, prohibiting use of plastic bags for yard waste, and amending Chapter IX, Article 4, Sections 2,3 and 6 of the Code of the City of Lawrence, Kansas. The attached implementation timeline has been developed to assist in the transition of households who utilize the curbside collection of yard waste by the City’s Solid Waste Division. We are planning for curbside implementation with the beginning of yard waste collection in March, 2005.
The attached photos show the progress being made on a couple of Parks and Rec projects in Stonegate Park and in Veterans Park.
