Proclamation

Lawrence, Kansas

 

WHEREAS:   The spirit and enthusiasm revolving around homecoming has been a University of Kansas tradition since the first football game in 1912; and

 

WHEREAS:   With the first victory in 1912, Jayhawk pride has continued to blossom and expand; and

 

WHEREAS:   Homecoming activities benefit both the spirit of campus and the Lawrence community while building upon traditions of past years; and

 

WHEREAS:   The week’s festivities begin with the Spirit Sprint, include a guest appearance by Bill Cosby, and conclude with the football game against the Kansas State University Wildcats, and  there is no doubt that at the conclusion of homecoming week students and the Lawrence community members alike will be reinvigorated with the University of Kansas spirit.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mike Rundle, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim October 2 – 9 as
