RE: |
Harvard Road Traffic Calming
|
The Engineering staff is making their second review of the Harvard Traffic Calming project plans. Pending any significant issues, this project could be ready to bid in October 2004.
The bids would then be presented to the City Commission in November and the contractor could conceivably begin in December. Due to normal weather conditions at this time of year (plus holidays), proceeding with this project at this time is not recommended as there would be extended times of inconvenience to the neighborhood and schools.
I am recommending that we bid this project in the spring of 2005, with the construction of the two main roundabouts (at the intersection of Harvard and Mulberry and the intersection of Harvard and Goldfield) to begin after school lets out (end of May/first of June 2005). Should the Folks Road construction be completed prior to the traffic calming project, we will physically close the through access into the neighborhood. We have already had discussions with the development (on Folks Road) and all construction traffic will enter the area off 6th Street.
Please feel free to call should you have any questions.
Respectfully submitted,
