Re:  Open permit letters

We have reviewed the open permit policy and the letters that we send to the property owner, we felt that a change we could make was to make the property owner more aware that they are only receiving a copy of the letter that is sent to the contractor.  The letter is no longer addressed to the property owner and a large watermark with the word “copy” on the letter.

We do consider all requests seriously and have determined that this is the best course of action.  We have seen increased response when we began sending a copy of the letter to the property owner.  Since implementing the over the counter permit procedure, open permit counts have decreased dramatically.
