Re: Pilot volunteer snow removal program
In February of this year during the discussion of snow removal and pedestrian travel, Commissioners expressed interest in a program to connect people that needed help removing snow from sidewalks with able bodies willing to remove snow. I have met with David Morrissey of the Roger Hill Volunteer Center and developed a program called “Safe Winter Walkways”. The program is described in the attached Memorandum of Understanding and program outline.
To implement the volunteer program, the City Manager needs to sign the Memorandum of Understanding. The Memorandum of Understanding will then be signed by David Morrissey, Roger Hill Volunteer Center and Jo Bryant of the United Way who have both reviewed the Memorandum of Understanding.
In addition to the program, the city will complete an winter mailing to non-residential properties in targeted areas and conduct an awareness campaign for Ordinance number 7456.
