On November 2, 2004, the City of Lawrence opened proposals for the following:  

 

Bid#0427 – Biosolids Cover  – Utilities Department

$ 339,900.00

 

The biosolids basin cover project was recommended by Black & Veatch to reduce hauling and application cost of the dewatered biosoilds.  It was originally part of the plant expansion, but was pulled after bids were opened.  Removal of the cover resulted in a $400,000 reduction in the expansion cost.  The project was later called out as a CIP project and $400,000 was budgeted. The bid received on 11/2/04 from CAS construction appears to meet the specifications and is under the budgeted amount. CAS has performed several projects for the city with good results, including the Clinton water treatment plant expansion, and more recently the lime residuals project.

 

 

Recommendation Action:

Approve bid from CAS Construction for the biosolids basin cover in the amount of $339,900.00
