RE:	2005 Concession Contract

The current contract for our parks and recreation concession operations ends December 31, 2004. Requests for proposals were sent out and opened on November 8, 2004. Two (2) proposals were received from Hy-Vee and Cesare Catering.

Hy-Vee, 4000 W 6^th, Lawrence, Kansas 66049, bid on aquatic centers only with 15% of gross sales paid to parks and recreation and Cesare Catering, 3828 Stetson Dr, Lawrence, Kansas 66044  for all facilities including the aquatic facilities and ball diamonds with 19.75% of gross sales paid to parks and recreation.

Recommendation

We have reviewed the proposals that were received. We are recommending the following contract for operations of the concession stands at ball fields and aquatic centers for 2005.

Cesare Catering,: for the operation of the concessions at Youth Sports Inc, 4911 W 27^th Street; Clinton Lake Adult Softball Complex, 1501 Speicher Rd; Holcom Park Sports Complex, 2601W. 25^th Street; Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Dr. and the Lawrence Outdoor Aquatic Center, 727 Kentucky. 19.75% of gross sales will be paid to Parks and Recreation with options to review annually through 2008.

For the past two (2) years Cesare Catering has been the concessionaire at the ball field locations and has been successful in this operation.

We ask that this item be placed on the November 16^th, for City Commission’s consideration.
