Ref.:    Mobile Blood Alcohol Testing Van

            The Lawrence Police Department has been notified of formal approval for the purchase of a Mobile Blood Alcohol Testing Van by the Kansas Department of Transportation.  This purchase is for the Traffic Unit.  The grant is for a total of $96,311 and will permit us to purchase a vehicle and related equipment for use in the City of Lawrence and Douglas County.

            We request permission to spend $19,262.20 for the local match to this grant.  The exact breakdown of these funds is as follows:

            Federal share            $77,048.80    (61121605616008)

            Local match               $19,262.20    (00121605616008)

            Total                            $96,311.00

            The vendor is a sole source vendor, Masters Transport, 15211 South 71 Highway, Grandview, Missouri.  Thank you for your consideration of this request.
