Dear Mr. Soules:
I am pleased to announce that your Geometric Improvement project at the intersection of K-10 and Harper Street has been selected for funding and will be included as part of the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) Local Partnership Program. This is one of 26 projects selected from 63 applications this year.
The enactment of the Comprehensive Transportation Program by the 1999 Legislature allowed the continuation of the Local Partnership Program, which has been in existence since 1986. Through this program, KDOT funds approximately $12 million annually for geometric improvement and economic development projects across the state. These improvements couldn't have happened without local partners and KDOT working together. Over the past five years, 114 projects totaling nearly $94 million have been initiated through this program with KDOT funding approximately $64 million in improvements and local governments, $30 million.
Your project has been programmed for FY 2008, and KDOT's Bureau of Local Projects will be contacting you regarding the process to get it underway. Please see the attached letter for further details regarding your project's funding. We appreciate your application to the Local Partnership Program. By combining resources, KDOT and you, our local partners, are making a difference in improving the State's transportation system.
Sincerely,
DEB MILLER

Dear Mr. Soules:
Congratulations on the approval of your Geometric Improvement project at the intersection of K-10 and Harper Street. Your project will be included in the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) fiscal year 2008 Geometric Improvement Program.
KDOT has approved funds for this project based on an estimate for the total project cost of $294,000. The state's participation will be 80 percent of the actual total participating project construction and construction engineering costs. The city will be responsible for the remaining construction and construction engineering costs along with all preliminary engineering, right-of-way and utility costs. The costs associated with construction, construction engineering and contingencies may be considered in the final cost provided KDOT approved procedures are followed. KDOT will assist in determining associated costs that receive the state's participation. Please note that KDOT's preliminary engineering and construction engineering expenses for plan review and development and KDOT's project construction expenses will be included in the final project cost.
The city will be responsible for plan preparation; however the project plans will require review by KDOT's Bureau of Local Projects for compliance with KDOT's procedures and requirements. Before proceeding with any plan preparation activities, either by the city or by a consultant-engineering firm, it is imperative that you consult with the Bureau of Local Projects in order to follow the proper consultant selection procedures.
