January 4, 2005 Agenda Item

Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the January 4, 2005 meeting:

Accept Low Bid – TV Inspection Van (Utilities Department) Bid #SB-0435-0-2003/AL

History.  The Utilities Department uses closed circuit television (CCTV) equipment to inspect the interior of sanitary sewer lines in the wastewater collection system.  Since first purchasing CCTV equipment in 1992, the Utilities Department has developed programs to televise existing sewer lines to determine pipe conditions or to locate defects that may cause sewer backups.  This equipment is also used on bond inspections to ensure that new sewer lines are constructed according to City specifications.  In 2004 the Utilities Department decided to trade in its existing van and related CCTV equipment and upgrade to a “high cube” type van with more current camera and computer systems.  The upgrade was included in the Departments 2005 operating budget.

Status.  The Utilities Department developed specifications for the new equipment and set a bid date of December 21, 2004.  On that date, bids were opened and the results are shown below.  All bids shown include the trade-in allowance.
