Proclamation

Lawrence, Kansas

 

WHEREAS:   Rev. William A. Dulin has provided visionary leadership as Chairman of the Ecumenical Fellowship and its 20 year organization and sponsorship of the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration in Lawrence; and

 

WHEREAS:   He has furthered the interests of our entire City by bringing together people from all segments of the community to learn from each other and together learn from our storied past in the free state movement; and

 

WHEREAS:   He has played a tireless role in encouraging and supporting diverse people with diverse programs, speakers and topics; and

 

WHEREAS:   He has promoted the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration for 20 years to bring honor to Dr. King and to further our understanding of his non-violent teachings to promote racial equality; and

 

WHEREAS:   He has been committed to Dr. King’s dream that all people will be judged not by the color of their skin, but by the quality of their character;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mike Rundle, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, along with my fellow commissioners, express our deep gratitude and appreciation to Rev. William Dulin for his many contributions to the City of Lawrence and its citizens through the Martin Luther King Jr. celebration and ask the citizens of Lawrence to join in recognizing the excellence of his work and extraordinary commitment to Lawrence and Douglas County.
