Subject: city commission agenda
Dear Mayor and City Commissioners:
Please accept my request to have an item placed on the city commission agenda on 2/22/05. I am requesting that you amend the current "Uniform Plumbing Code, 2000 Edition" under section 701.1.2 (materials) to the original code requirement as published by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, 20001 Walnut Drive South, Walnut California, 91789.
By amending this section back to the original language you would allow for the use of PVC pipe in commercial building projects.
In my particular case, I have had numerous failures of cast iron pipe resulting in expensive replacement as well as health and sanitation problems when these cast iron soil pipes leak, split open, or generally rot out. I have had new cast iron pipe fail in as few as eight years.
I look foreword to presenting my information to you in person. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Bob Schumm
