RE:	Project No. 1-SR1-105(S) 6^th Street, Arkansas to Massachusetts Milling, Overlay, Pavement Marking

Project Description.

This project will mill, overlay, and install new pavement markings on 6^th Street between Arkansas and Massachusetts.  Between Tennessee and Kentucky, eastbound lanes, the existing pavement will be removed and replaced with concrete due to the severe rutting and shoving that occurs repeatedly.

Project History.  This project was funded by the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) for FY 2006 as part of their KLINK program.  This program funds maintenance of state highways within the City limits.

Project Status.  The plans were submitted to KDOT for their review and approval on February 10, 2005.  Once KDOT approves the plans the City will bid the project, probably in early April.  Construction will be completed in June or July.

Project Details.    These plans were prepared by the Engineering staff.  The project is funded 50% by KDOT and 50% by the City, but KDOT will not exceed $200,000 for their share.  The Engineering staff will inspect this project.  The Agreement details the responsibilities of the City and KDOT.

Action Requested.    Adopt Resolution No. 6578 authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to execute KLINK 1R Resurfacing Project Agreement No. 13-05.
