Last August the City of Lawrence began working on a joint bid and cooperative purchasing agreement through Mid-America Council of Public Purchasing (MACPP) for 2005 vehicles. There were fourteen other government entities besides Lawrence working on the bid including Douglas County and entities in the Kansas City area belonging to MACPP. This year the City of Overland Park headed the bidding process and the bids were approved by the Overland Park City Council on November 8, 2004. Ten vendors bid on 57 different vehicles.
Public Works Department, Street Division is requesting to purchase a cab and chassis for their street patch unit. At the present time the patch unit is temporarily installed in the back of a dump truck and removed each time it snows to install the sanders and use for snow removal. This is also a safety issue, propane bottles are hoisted up in the back of the truck to be used with the patch unit. The truck we are requesting will have the patch unit permanently mounted and the propane bottles will be mounted on the sides. This vehicle was approved for purchase in the budgeting process.
Recommendation Action:
Approve purchase of one (1) one cab and chassis off the MACPP bid from KCR International Truck in the amount of $50,674.00 (Public Works/Streets)
