RE: Painting of the 19th and Kasold Water Storage Reservoir
Please include the following item on the consent agenda for the March 15, 2005 City Commission meeting.
Project History
The Department of Utilities retained Bartlett and West engineers to complete plans and specifications for the painting of the 19th and Kasold water storage tank. The City Commission approved the engineering contract in October of 2004. The engineering work included the preparation of technical specifications, bidding documents and construction phase services for sandblasting and painting the exterior of the water storage tank; interior coating maintenance on the roof rafters; and modification in safety devices to meet OSHA standards. The project required special attention to the specifications to ensure appropriate protection of adjacent residence during coating removal and painting of the storage tank.
Project Status / Details:
Bartlett and West Engineers and City staff have reviewed proposals submitted by Contractors for the work. The firms submitting proposals and their associated lowest proposal price for the work are provided below.

The contract requires work to begin by March 28, 2005 and complete by May 15, 2005. Temporary construction easements (for construction staging area, etc) have been obtained from the adjacent landowners.
Project Funding: Funding for the work will come from the non- bonded construction fund for 2005. This project was included in the Master Plan for an estimated cost of $395,200.
Action Request. The Utilities Department is seeking approval from the City Commission to award the project to the lowest responsive proposal , TMI Coatings, and authorize the City Manager to enter into a contract agreement in the amount of $321,000.
