On Tuesday, March 15, 2004 the City of Lawrence and Douglas County opened proposals for road salt in a cooperative purchasing agreement. Last year the City purchased 2500 tons of road salt in a cooperative bid with the County for $29.45 a ton. This year we requested bids for 1500 tons of salt with the option to buy an additional 500 tons in the spring of 2006. The results are:
