ORDINANCE NO. 7872

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, AMENDING CHAPTER 1, ARTICLE 2, SECTION 1-204 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, 2003 EDITION, AND AMENDMENTS THERETO, ESTABLISHING THE QUORUM FOR THE CONDUCT OF CITY COMMISSION BUSINESS.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS:

Section 1.  Chapter 1, Article 2, Section 1-204 of the Code of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, 2003 Edition, and amendments thereto, is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-204              SAME; QUORUM; CONDUCT OF MEETINGS.  All regular and special meetings shall be open to the public.  Four (4) commissioners shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.  No ordinance shall be passed except by the affirmative vote of a majority of the members-elect of the Governing Body.  This Section shall expire March 31, 2006.

Section 2.  Section 1-204 of the Code of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, 2003 Edition, and amendments thereto, is hereby repealed, it being the intent that the provisions of this ordinance supersede those Code and ordinance provisions.

Section 3.  This ordinance shall be effective on and after April 12, 2005 and upon publication as provided by law.  This ordinance shall expire March 31, 2006.
