Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at their April 12 meeting:

Award bid for contract blight mowing

The Codes Enforcement Division (CED) enforces the weed ordinance, which gives code authority for the City to abate weed violations when property owners fail to do so upon proper notification by the City.  The CED budget includes $25,000 for this activity.

The following bids were received for this year’s weed-mowing season:

Vernon’s Lawn Mowing

          Basic/riding mower     - $40/hour

          Brush hog                - N/A

Nichols Mowing

          Basic/riding mower     - $40/hour

          Brush hog                - $40/hour

Lar-Bar Mowing Service

          Basic/riding mower     - $55/hour

          Brush hog                - $75/hour

Russell Hopping

          Basic/riding mower     - $65/hour

          Brush hog                - N/A

Recommendation:  Award bid for basic/riding mower work to Vernon’s Lawn Mowing and Nichols Mowing.  Jobs will be awarded on a rotation basis.  Award bid for brush hog work to Nichols Mowing.
