2003 International Residential Code (IRC, building portion of code only)

 

§         Complete draft ordinance (underway)

  • Public meeting for input and final board comments (1 month)
  • Review and approve final draft with recommendation(s) for CC (2 months)

Total projected review time for the 2003 IRC - 3 months

 

2003 Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC)

 

  • Mechanical Board review
    • Review code changes (3 months)
    • Review existing amendments for continued relevance (2 months)
    • Reviews and reconcile cross references between IBC/IFC and UMC, including fuel gas requirements; include at least one joint meeting each with the building and fire prevention Boards (4 months)
  • Complete draft ordinance (1 month)
  • Public meeting for input and final Board comments (1 month)
  • Board approval of final draft ordinance with recommendation for adoption to the City Commission (1 month)

Total projected review time for the 2003 UMC 12 months

 

2003 Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC)

 

§         Plumbing Board review

    • Review code changes (3 months)
    • Review existing amendments for continued relevance (2 months)
    • Review and reconcile cross references between IBC/IFC and UPC, including fuel gas requirements; include at least one joint meeting each with the building and fire prevention Boards (4 months)
  • Complete draft ordinance (1 month)
  • Public meeting for input and final Board comments (1 month)
  • Board approval of final draft ordinance with recommendation for adoption to the City Commission (1 month)

Total projected review time for the 2003 UPC - 12 months

 

2005 National Electric Code (NEC)

 

§         Electrical Board review

o       Review code changes (3 months)

o       Review existing amendments for continued relevance (2 months)

  • Complete draft ordinance (1 month)
  • Public meeting for input and final Board comments (1 month)
  • Board approval of final draft ordinance with recommendation for adoption to the City Commission (1 month)

Total projected review time for the 2005 NEC – 8 months

 

2003 International Building Code (IBC)

 

  • Building Board review
    • Review differences between 1997 UBC and 2003 IBC, using analysis provided by ICC (3 months)
    • Identify cross references between building and plumbing/mechanical codes and refer as necessary to plumbing and mechanical Boards, including references to the International Fuel Gas Code (1 month)
    • Review existing amendments for continued relevance (2 months)
    • Receive and review information back from plumbing and mechanical Boards regarding cross references between the codes, include at least one joint meeting each with plumbing and mechanical board (2 months)
  • Complete draft ordinance (1 month)
  • Public meeting for input and final Board comments (1 month)
  • Board approval of final draft ordinance with recommendation for adoption to the City Commission (1 month)

Total projected review time for the 2003 IBC – 11 months

 

2003 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC)

 

§         Building Board Review – to begin after completion of review of IRC and IBC*

o       Review code for initial adoption by the City (3 months)

o       Identify cross references to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing codes and refer as necessary to appropriate trades boards (1 month)

o       Receive and review information back from trades boards, including joint meetings with other boards as necessary (2 months)

  • Complete draft ordinance (1 month)
  • Public meeting for input and final Board comments (1 month)
  • Board approval of final draft ordinance with recommendation for adoption to the City Commission (1 month)

Total projected review time for the 2003 IECC – 9 months (*after completion of IBC review)

 

2003 International Fire Code (IFC)

 

§         Fire Prevention Board review (Board will meet 2X per month)

o       Review code as coordinated between Fire Prevention staff and Fire Board

    • Identify cross references between the fire and plumbing/mechanical codes and refer as necessary to plumbing and mechanical boards, including references to the International Fuel Gas Code
    • Receive and review information back from plumbing and mechanical Boards regarding cross references between the codes, include at least one joint meeting each with plumbing and mechanical Boards

Total projected review time for the 2003 IFC – 10-12 months
