Public Works Sanitation requested bids for a knuckle boom crane. The equipment presently being used is a 1987 Ferrarri model 4200 crane. This crane has been used daily over the past seventeen years of service. It now requires an overhaul or replacement. An overhaul and certification would not be cost effective from a dollar amount or down time. Replacement of the crane with a remote control unit will reduce the man power needed to operate the unit and will be a much safer operation. This purchase was approved in the 2005 budgeting process.
Recommendation Action:
Approve bid from Knapheide Truck Equipment for one knuckle boom crane in the amount of $23,435.75. (Public Works/Sanitation)
