RE:     Douglas County Mitigation Plan

Attached are documents related to the Douglas County Mitigation Plan.  This plan has been approved by FEMA pending concurrence by each of the cities in Douglas County, and promulgation by the Douglas County Commission.

The Mitigation Plan is a FEMA requirement for communities (cities and counties) interested in receiving mitigation grant funds and for eligibility to received federal disaster assistance from Presidential declared events.

There are a couple of options that you have in the review and concurrence of this document.  Attached to the memo I have provided a background document, and the actual plan goals and objectives.  The goals and objectives are the “meat” of the document.  These are the items that the County will have to “demonstrate activity” towards in follow up reports to FEMA.

Elected bodies may review and discuss the Plan from the attached documents before signing the attached concurrence page.   You may also request a copy of the entire Mitigation Plan.  The entire Mitigation Plan is a very large document and I can provide the document on CD.  I am also available to meet with the governing bodies to discuss the Mitigation Plan with you.

I appreciate your review of the Mitigation Plan.  Please contact me with questions or comments regarding the Plan, and/or the concurrence document.
