RE:	Project No. 2-BG1-104(S) Kasold Drive (over the KTA) Bridge Improvements City Commission Agenda Item

In October 2003 the city entered into an Agreement with Douglas County and the Kansas Turnpike Authority to use the city’s federal funds from the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) to fund 80% of the costs to reconstruct the Kasold Drive bridge over the Kansas Turnpike.  KDOT does not participate in the cost of design, but per the Agreement executed by all parties, Douglas County and the Kansas Turnpike Authority pay this expense.

The original design contract was in the amount of $124,000.  The consultant, Professional Engineering Consultants, P.A., has requested a Supplemental Agreement for engineering design in the amount of $16,000.  This is due to additional services needed for the preparation of a special hydraulic report to evaluate the inter-relationship of the Kasold Drive and Kansas Turnpike culvert structures, and the design of a culvert replacement structure under Kasold Drive for the Deerfield Tributary to Baldwin Creek.

Action Requested:  Authorize the City Manager to execute the Supplemental Amendment to the Engineering Services Agreement with Professional Engineering Consultants, P.A. in the amount of $16,000.
