RE:	Possession and Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages at Eagle Bend at VIP Tent of LPGA Futures Tour Golf Event

Lawrence Golf Tournaments, Inc., the organizer of the LPGA Futures Golf Tour event at Eagle Bend Golf Course is requesting approval to sell alcoholic beverages and for attendees in the VIP Tent to possess and consume these alcoholic beverages (strong beer) in a designated area on Friday, May 6^th, Saturday May 7, and Sunday May, 8^th, 2005.  Lawrence Golf Tournaments Inc., is in the process of obtaining a temporary license from the Alcohol Beverage Control for this event and is ready to obtain a temporary City license. 

While Eagle Bend has a valid Cereal Malt Beverage license, and possession and consumption of CMB is allowed at Eagle Bend, the possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited by City Code.  However, City Code section 4-105(E) allows the City to exempt, by ordinance, specified City property from the prohibition of alcoholic beverages on public property.  Therefore, an ordinance allowing the temporary sale, possession, and consumption is required.  As such, I have attached a copy of Ordinance 7878 for the Commission’s consideration.  This ordinance authorizes the sale, possession, and consumption of alcoholic beverages on May 6, 7 and 8, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm each day in the VIP Tent only.
