HRC RESOLUTION NO. 2005-01
RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING THE DESIGNATION OF THE “ZINN-BURROUGHS HOUSE,” LOCATED AT 1927 LEARNARD AVENUE (THE EAST HALF OF TRACT 2 IN SPALDING’S SUBDIVISION, LESS A TRACT 35 FEET NORTH & SOUTH BY 118 FEET EAST & WEST IN THE SOUTHEAST CORNER THEREOF), LAWRENCE, DOUGLAS COUNTY, KANSAS, TO THE LAWRENCE REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LAWRENCE HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LAWRENCE, KANSAS, AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, Chapter 22, The Conservation of Historic Resources Code, in the Lawrence City Code establishes the procedures for the review and evaluation of Landmark nominations to the Lawrence Register of Historic Places; and, the procedures for forwarding said recommendations to the City Commission with a report;
WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 22-404.2(a), the Lawrence Historic Resources Commission conducted a public hearing on June 17, 2004 and June 16, 2005 to consider the proposed nomination of the Zinn-Burroughs House, located at 1927 Learnard Avenue, as a Landmark to the Lawrence Register of Historic Places;
WHEREAS, the proposed nomination has been supported by the owner of record, The William S. Burroughs Trust, James W. Grauerholz, Trustee; and,
WHEREAS, the Lawrence Historic Resources Commission has determined that the proposed landmark qualifies for nomination in accordance with criteria #3 and #4 of Section 22-403(a) of The Conservation of Historic Resources Code;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Lawrence Historic Resources Commission that it does hereby recommend designation of the Zinn-Burroughs House, located at 1927 Learnard Avenue, as a Landmark on the Lawrence Register of Historic Places.
ADOPTED by the Lawrence Historic Resources Commission on this 16th day of June 2005.
