TRAIL ROAD RELIEF SEWER (PROJ.# 1SS-204)

FINAL REPORT

This report provides information regarding the recently completed Capital Improvement Project # 1SS-204, also known as the Trail Road Relief Sewer Project.  A map of the project area is shown below.

General Project Information

The goal of the project was to install a relief sewer that would enable the City to decommission Pump Station # 26, located at 4118 Trail Road.  PS 26, installed in 1989 to serve development north of 6th Street between Monterey Way and Folks Road, was located in the front yard of 4118 Trail Road. (see photo #1).  Unreliable electrical service to the station caused basement flooding on several occasions.  Decommissioning of this station would result in substantial savings in maintenance costs and utility (phone, electric) costs, remove a pump station from a front yard location and improve system reliability. The relief sewer would convey flows by gravity from the pump station wet well to a sewer system on the west side of Folks Road. Challenges associated with this project

included trench depths, a thick shelf of granite rock, a wintertime construction schedule and excavation in an established neighborhood.
