Cost Estimate Comparison with Station No. 2

Station No. 2 was bid in 2002

Materials, labor and fuel/transportation cost have increased 12-15%

The following additional items have contributed to the increased

cost estimate for Station #4:

          -    Adding ground face CMU end walls at the north elevation in

lieu painted cement panels.

          -    Bedrooms have full height partitions.

          -    The HVAC system now has greater flexibility with each

bedroom having its own climate control.

-    Solid Surface countertops are being used in lieu of plastic

laminate countertops.

-    The existing topography is much higher than the designed

"finish grade", which was determined by the low slope required

     by the fire trucks/apparatus.

-    The site has rock near existing grade, which requires

substantial excavation and disposal of the spoils.

-    A sewage ejector and vault is required for the sewer

connection since a gravity line will not work for the site.

-    A back-up generator is being installed.

-    Retaining walls are required along the south drive and the

water detention basin.

-    The Decontamination Room has been reinforced as a "safer"

room.
