Subject: Pesticide Free Parks Celebration

Dear Pesticide-Free Parks Supporters,

I want to thank all of you so much for your support of Pesticide-Free

Parks over the past several months. It is because of the interest you

have shown that the City of Lawrence now has around 25 parks in the

Pesticide-Free Parks Program. You have proved once again that Lawrence,

Kansas is one of the most progressive communities in the nation.

I think it is time that we celebrate! I would like to invite you all to

the *Pesticide-Free Parks Celebration and Volunteer Gathering *scheduled

for *Thursday, June 30th, 7pm at Watson Park. *

The Parks and Recreation Department is creating a Volunteer Program to

help maintain the only high profile park on the Pesticide-Free

list--Watson Park (aka The Train Park) located at 7^th and Kentucky.

At Thursday's celebration, we will serve cookies and lemonade, chat

about the new and improved Pesticide-Free Parks Program, and go over

volunteer options. Groups and individuals are invited to:

*Adopt-a-Flowerbed*--1 minute to 20 minutes per week

*Join the Volunteer Park Crew*--30 minutes to 1 hour per week

*Be an Open Volunteer--*help out when you can.

But if you can't volunteer, please come anyway! We want to celebrate

with you!

All are welcome to bring a snack to share (but you don't have to). For

more info, contact volunteer coordinators Marie Stockett at 832-1345,

Kelly Barth at 843-8578, or Megan Phelps at 841-9058. See you Thursday!

In Community,

Marie Stockett

Have a great day!
