Traffic Safety Commission Agenda -Item 2 Speed Hump on Riverview Road |
At the June 6, 2005 Traffic Safety Commission meeting the Commission unanimously approved recommending the construction of a speed hump at approximately 3122 Riverview Road near the bottom of the hill. City policy requires that the 85th percentile speeds are 5 mph or more over the speed limit, or traffic volumes are greater than 1,000 vehicles per day, to “warrant” the installation of a speed hump. On April 20, 2005 traffic volumes ranged from 330 to 570 vehicles/day, and the 85th percentile speeds ranged from 25.7 – 45.5 mph. The posted speed limit is 30 mph and, therefore, meets the threshold for installation of a speed hump.
The City has a list of traffic calming devices approved (attached) but does not have funding to construct these devices. The estimated cost of this installation is $12,000.
Respectfully submitted,
