RE:	Proposed ordinance regulations hunting & trapping in parks

Over the past two years we have had reports of hunting and trapping particularly in Lawrence Riverfront Park.  This winter a dog was caught in a trap along the Kansas River.

We have communicated to the local KDWP conservation officer, who recommended that a local ordinance banning hunting and trapping would assist them in their enforcement efforts.

Attached is such an ordinance which has been approved by our Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.

We ask that this be placed on the City Commission Agenda for consideration.
