#0523 – 2005 ROOT CONTROL PROGRAM – UTILITIES DEPARTMENT
VENDOR |
TOTAL BID |
Duke’s Root Control |
$.99 ft. |
Utility Maintenance Contractors |
No bid |
Utilities Department requested bids for the 2005 root control program. The root control program is outsourced work that involves putting foam in sanitary sewer lines to prevent root growth and the resulting sewer backups. We requested bids from 7 vendors to treat +/- 64,500’ of 8” pipe. Duke’s Root Control, the sole bidder, is the contractor that has been doing the work for the past 3 years. The Utilities Department put the program up for bid, with an option to renew for 2 additional years in order to obtain the most competitive price for the work. This purchase was approved in the 2005 budgeting process.
Recommendation:
Approve bid from Duke’s Root Control for the 2005 Root Control Program to treat
+/- 64,500’ of 8” pipe at $.99 ft. totaling $63,855.00. (Utilities/Collection Systems)
