RE:                 Waterline Relocation at Kasold Bridge and I-70

 

Please include the following item on the consent agenda for the August 2,2005 City Commission meeting.

 

Award  Bid :  Kasold Drive Bridge over I-70;  12 inch Waterline Relocation

 

Project Description:   The current project includes waterline relocation work that is necessary due to future street and drainage improvements ( Public Works project) along Kasold and the bridge over I-70. The project requires relocation of approximately 400 ft of 12 inch waterline and associated appurtenances.

 

Project History: The design for the street and waterline relocation work was completed by PEC engineers.  Notification was provided by Public Works that the waterline required adjustment prior to beginning street / drainage construction. 

 

Project Status/ Details:    Bid documents, specifications and an Invitation to Bid was provided to contractors.  Final Bids were received from Nowak Construction and Kahle Construction. The bid amount for the two contractors is provided below:

Nowak Construction            $ 105,000.00 

Kahle  Inc.                       $ 109,587.00

 

The anticipated schedule for the waterline work at this time:

 

Bid Letting – July 26th

Notice to Proceed  - August 22nd

End Construction – End of September   

         

 

Project Funding:    Funding for this project will come from the non-bonded construction fund for 2005 waterline improvements.  This fund provides approximately $1,000,000 per year for improvements for relocation and replacement of waterlines in the Distribution system.

 

Action Request.  The Utilities Department is seeking approval from the City Commission to award the project to the lowest responsive bidder, Nowak Construction, and authorize the City Manager to enter into a contract agreement in the amount of      $105,000.00.
